Dog Will Be Put Down For Attacking Illegal Alien

December 5th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

New Jersey is not exactly the best place in the world, and the latest news from ABC shows that it has taken a step down hill.  Congo, a German Shepherd, attacked an illegal immigrant in Princeton, NJ and has been ordered to be executed by a judge.  A petition to Gov. Corzine to pardon the dog has gone unnoticed.  An anonymous resident made this foolish statement,

“I would hate my hometown and home state to go down in history as the place where suburbanites value their dogs above their lives of those they hire to tend their yards,”

Who had their life endangered?  I don’t see any papers identifying any US Citizen or authorized resident alien endangered by Congo.  If you are an undocumented worker, then you don’t exist in any database and therefore should not be entitled to any inputs into our civil or criminal justice system.  We need changes in legislation to allow us to identify individuals that have no rights to our government services and block them using ID Cards or other technologies.  If you can’t produce an ID Card that proves you are a citizen or lawful resident alien, then the computer will not allow you to fill out any of the forms necessary to file a civil lawsuit.  If the police scan your ID and it says you are not here legally, the computer will not let them file a report.  I think technology can be the fix for many of our problems, if we use it correctly.  If these electronic measures were in effect, then Congo would not be in this situation.

Obama Inhaled So What

November 26th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

Obama inhaled and that was the point.

Mitt Romney on the other hand doesn’t get the point.

“I agree with the sentiment that nobody’s perfect and most of us, if not all of us, in our youthful years have engaged in various indiscretions we wouldn’t want to have paraded in the front of a newspaper,” the former Massachusetts governor said in New Hampshire. “On the other hand if we’re running for president, I think it’s important for us not to go into details about the weaknesses and our own failings as young people for the concern that we open kids thinking that it’s ok for them.”

I would have to disagree with Mr. Romney on his last point.  Politicians are not perfect and should not try to portray themselves as perfect.  I want to see weakness.  I want to see failure.  When you are human you are humble, which is something many politicians are not.  The other issue is that Romney, like most Republicans, seems to have this attitude that everyone should be perfect.  We don’t want kids thinking that it’s ok to be weak and have a failure in their lives now do we?  Yes, God wants us to be perfect.  If you believe he’s there you shouldn’t forget that we were made in his image, not as his exact duplicate.  Romney should realize men are not gods, but maybe someone should give him a mirror that works before trying to explain it to him.

School Gives Detention for Hugs

November 8th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

Here is another problem district with zero common sense.  Megan Coulter was suspended for hugging classmates goodbye.

District Superintendent Sam McGowen said that he thinks the penalty is fair and that administrators in the school east of St. Louis were following policy in the student handbook.

It states: “Displays of affection should not occur on the school campus at any time. It is in poor taste, reflects poor judgment, and brings discredit to the school and to the persons involved.”

Saying  goodbye in a manner that is customary to your social group is in poor taste, reflects poor judgement, and brings discredit to all involved.  WTF?  Dr. McGowen must be a boring and uncultured person.  To believe that self expression is poor judgement indicates that he is trying to create a sterile environment at his school district.  To also say that self-expression brings discredit to the school and to others involved is also a foolish statement.  Zero tolerance equals zero credibility.  It is impossible to discredit some entity that has no credibility, so I am not sure why he wasted the reporter’s time with that statement.  It is obvious that in this word of political correctness at school districts that we have an over budget problem.  Anyone who has taken an undergraduate intro to law class understands that the law is not fair and that due to limited police and judicial resources only the most serious offenders are pursued.  I do not think we would want to live in a world where the police have unlimited resources since there are many silly laws on the books that date back hundreds of years that we would not want enforced.  By the same token I believe that school officials have way too much money and free time to be pursuing silly issues such as hugging.  What we need is a drive to cut school funding.  If they have time to punish young people for being human and expressing themselves, then they are over funded and need to be brought back in line with other government agencies.

If you want to tell the school district how much you appreciate their stupidity providing you with entertainment then here is the contact information

Putin: Attack Iran and You Attack Russia

October 26th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

At times you have to question the wisdom of President Bush in choosing his friends. The Russians are really showing that they are no longer our friends.

An American attack on Iran will be viewed by Moscow as an attack on Russia.

True friends always have your back no matter what you do. President Vladimir Putin has shown us that he does not have our backs. We should question why President Bush wants to be friends with Russia and alienate China. The Clinton administration was very friendly towards China and to this day we trade a great deal with China. I believe we benefit more through our economic relations with China rather than Russia. Why waste the time with Russia if their friendship is more trouble than it’s worth.

City refuses Love Shack owner’s gift toward firetruck

October 24th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

John Cornetta has generously offered the city of Johns Creek $3000 toward the purchase of a new firetruck. Unfortunately the mayor, Mike Bodker, has some strange political agenda up his sleeve and has refused the donation. For some reason Bodker feels the need to pilfer the pockets of the tax payers, rather than take free money when it is offered. Cornetta, a successful business owner, should be commended for his efforts to subsidize a firetruck for the city of Johns Creek since the mayor has not purchased one since the city was formed on December 1, 2006. Presently fire and police services are contracted to Fulton County. Some believe the mayor has snubbed Cornetta because of his business of operating adult video stores. Regardless of the political or moral implications, Mr. Cornetta has offered the tax payers of Johns Creek some savings on building their city. Any accountant will tell you that 1% savings is better than 0% and anything more than 1% is gravy. You don’t have to be an Asian rocket scientist to understand the numbers. I would hope that an old white guy like Bodker could understand 5th grade math, but apparently not. The mayor and the voters of Johns Creek need to realize that the only thing in play here are the numbers. Turning down free for a more expensive option never makes good economic sense.

Abortion = Illegal Immigration

July 19th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

Tom DeLay, former Republican Majority Leader, has really outdone himself this time. He seems to believe there is a direct correlation between abortion and illegal immigration.

“I contend [abortion] affects you in immigration,” DeLay told the Washington-area gathering. “If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn’t need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. Think about it.”

Let’s think about it. Rounding up the last 12 month’s worth of data there are 7M people unemployed (4.5%). A quick Google search puts the number of unlawful, undocumented border crossers at 12-15M. Those are the hard numbers. Does abortion relate to illegal immigration? I don’t think so. Assuming that the lazy 4.5% of the population would relocate to where the jobs are, we would have 5-8M unfilled jobs in this country. If you fill those 8M jobs with 40M people, I would dare say that you would have a much higher unemployment rate. To be mathematically fair, there wouldn’t be 32M unemployed people, but I doubt we would have the low unemployment and the high wages we have today. Sorry Mr. DeLay, but I don’t understand your math here.

The solution to those 5-8M unfilled jobs is legal immigration. No, I’m not talking about Mexico. I’m talking about China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, India, and Europe. Business week has the perfect solution to the immigration problem. First stop limiting the green cards. It should be like it was in the 1920’s. If you want to come here to work then you’re welcome. Next we set the criteria to let in the smartest and the wealthiest individuals. We need more scientific minds at work in this country. Wealthy individuals start new businesses and can hire more Americans than someone who is poor starting a business. According to the Business Week article, many people waiting for green cards are leaving in frustration because it takes too damn long to get through the system. In today’s world your opportunity to start a company and make money is limited to 3-5 years. This is due to the fact that technology moves so fast that your idea will be obsolete in a short time and because there is no manufacturing cost to technology it is probable someone else will come up with the same idea and beat you to market. If we were to import a good mix of 5M scientists and entrepreneurs that would make the economy really take off since we would be on the road to world economic domination. Then people might not mind paying extra for produce since there would be more money in their pockets.

Chris Krok Protest Over

June 7th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

We made it out alive, but considering that only 5 Mexicans decided to show up that’s not too surprising.  The protest against the Senate Amnesty Immigration Bill was a success in my opinion.  Thanks to Chris Krok for putting this together.  Also thanks to the Cobb County Police for keeping things professional.  I hope this sends a message to Senators Isakson and Chambliss that the people who can reelect them probably won’t if they vote yes on this horrible legislation.

One ironic thing about this picture is the Mexicans are holding a sign that says “No One Is Illegal”, but there’s a cop car in the picture and they’re being shooed away from Men’s Wearhouse for illegally trespassing on the property.  You might not be illegal, but you can sure act that way.

Random photos of cool people and entertaining signs at the rally.

Proposal for Immigration Reform

June 6th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

There are a large number of problems with the immigration reform bill going before the Senate this week. Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson have decided to sell their constituents down the river in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens. Since our current elected officials have decided they are incapable of fixing the problem, I have created a proposal that should secure the borders and usher in a new era of immigration reform.

Dear Representatives, Senators, and Mr. President

I am writing to you to voice my opposition to the current immigration bill and any others that follow the same philosophy. I am an Asian-American son of a Vietnam War Vet. I understand the gift of the freedoms Americans enjoy and I understand the reason many want to come to our great nation. I am greatly concerned that amnesty will be given to illegal aliens.

I have friends who have married Europeans and they live in constant fear that INS is going to break up their family because paperwork is constantly being lost or simply because INS refuses to investigate illegal aliens.

Metro Atlanta Sheriffs and Police Chiefs have made many statements on AM 750 WSB that INS does not support their efforts to clean up the streets. Local law enforcement cannot enforce federal law which leaves gaps in some areas and duplication in others.

First, we need to secure the border. Some have stated that building a wall is not the proper approach to securing the border. I would like to cite the Great Wall of China. It is a marvel of Asian ingenuity and engineering. I believe it is time for America to build a Great Wall for the 21st Century to protect our border in much the same manner that the Great Wall of China has protected them from invaders. Securing the borders is essential.

Our immigration system is broken and we need to fix it in a way that puts Americans and those who want to become American first. My proposal to securing the borders and immigration reform involves the following:

  • Dissolve INS/ICE and issue severance packages to all employees. They, as an agency, have demonstrated they cannot enforce immigration and instead resort to harassing legal immigrants and their American spouses. Incompetence is not tolerated in the private sector and should not be tolerated in the public sector.
  • Dissolve the DEA. This represents an annual savings of $4 Billion. The War on Terror and the War on Drugs are not compatible since the terrorists receive funding from the black market for illegal drugs.
  • Allocate $2 Billion from the DEA breakup to the 50 states. The states shall choose whether to legalize drugs and spend the funds on treatment and education; or maintain their various controlled substances acts and spend the funds on enforcement and police expansion. Either way new jobs would be created in social services or state/local law enforcement.
  • Assign all the former DEA agents to border protection. Allocate $2 Billion to first build a fence and then fund the new agency.
  • Dissolve the IRS and implement the Fair Tax. This represents a savings of the requested $11.6 Billion 2008 operating budget request, cited by the US General Accountability Office.
  • Assign all former IRS agents to border protection, Social Security Fraud, and Identity Theft Enforcement
  • Eliminate all guest worker programs, including H1B visa programs for college educated technology workers. If there is a worker shortage it should be permanently corrected, not band-aided. This becomes more relevant as baby boomers retire and further create a worker shortage.
  • Expand the number of green card candidates. Both agriculture and IT/Science industries cannot meet the demand for labor. We should be inviting more people here to become American and be assimilated into our culture rather than sending them back home every year. This eliminates the need to track guest workers since all workers will be permanent.

I have outlined approximately $15 Billion in allocations that can be made to enhance border security. I believe these proposed changes will enhance our security and assist America with the expansion of our economy and our culture.

Abortion Fight Looming for Giuliani

May 10th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

Rudy Giuliani is turning out to be a candidate that can change a lot of things. Of note is that he is not going to tow the party line and go along with McCain and Romney on the abortion issue. Rudy’s advisors seem to think that abortion is not a divisive issue this election and stepping outside the norm may gather more swing voters or people who would normally vote Democrat.

I’m with his advisors on this one. Gen-X and Gen-Y are starting to become more interested in politics. The moral hang-ups that our parents had just are not on the radar for many people under age 35. Giuliani, if he continues on this course, is making a statement that your body is your property and that the government does not have the right to point a gun at you and tell you what you can and can’t do with your body. I will be interested to hear his views in the coming weeks on assisted suicide, since this “culture of life” the right wing is against anyone dying, except for death row inmates.

Republicans and religious zealots on the right are quick to challenge abortion and assisted suicide, but when there’s an execution scheduled they’re all over it. If the unborn are sacred and the elderly deserve protection, then mass murders should get the same treatment, right? Isn’t it Christian to forgive and not throw the first stone? How is it possible to be pro-life and pro-death at the same time? The best answer is to not ask too many questions and let people do what they will behind closed doors. America is about liberty and much of that comes from letting your neighbor do as they please, provided it does not infringe on your rights as an individual. You can be critical, but don’t try to legislate morality.

Bush Expected to Veto Hate Crime Bil

May 6th, 2007 by Quan Tranh

I’m all for putting people in prison for violent crime, but we already have laws on the books that deal with violent crime without getting into whether the victim is a racial minority or gay or something else. The President’s expected veto is a welcome act.

“State and local criminal laws already provide criminal penalties for the violence addressed by the new federal crime defined in section 7 of H.R. 1592, and many of these laws carry stricter penalties (including mandatory minimums and the death penalty) than the proposed language in H.R. 1592,” the statement said.

The above statement is a good point. The 50 states have their own laws and I am greatly dismayed that our Federal legislators are wasting time reinventing the wheel. In addition, only Federal authorities can enforce Federal law. I do not see the FBI going out to arrest people for violating laws such as this. It’s difficult enough getting your local police to help, especially when they’re out blowing things up like Boston PD.

Surprising minority advocates are supporting the idea of the veto.

Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues with Concerned Women for America, was quick to praise the statement.

The bill would penalize someone who commits an act of violence against a homosexual more so than any other person. Assault is assault and murder is murder. We need to stop trying to invent new forms of hate crime and enforce the laws that are already on the books. I also believe that good self defense training can act as a deterrent. Most people are not going to commit assault if they know the potential of getting injured or shot themselves.
