A Cure for Brain Cancer

October 2nd, 2008 by Quan Tranh

Scientists have discovered a possible cure for brain cancer in scorpion venom. This venom is from the Deathstalker scorpion which is a highly dangerous species. Some of the toxins seem to bind to the receptors on cancer cells while leaving the other cells in the body undamaged. Note that only some of the toxins are not dangerous. I believe we need to do further study into the benefits of Deathstalker venom. Fortunately the scorpion is found in the right place to conduct this research.

L. quinquestriatus can be found in desert and scrubland habitats ranging from North Africa through to the Middle East. Countries where it lives include Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Mali, Niger, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Iran, Pakistan, Quatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

I think that the population of these countries, with the exception of one, would make great test subjects for scorpion venom. In order to save on research funds we should just use the venom straight and on a large segment of the population. After all a mind is a terrible thing.
