Saudi warning over tobacco firms

December 4th, 2006 by Quan Tranh

Now those crazy Arabs are threatening to sue tobacco companies over health problems caused in their countries.

One out of every 10 Saudis smokes, the World Health Organization estimates, though some analysts and groups have questioned this figure, saying that it is closer to 30%.

International lawsuits are very difficult to pull off so I’m not too confident they’re going to get very far here. I wonder if there’s something in the Patriot Act that can be used here. After all they’re trying to inflict damage to the American economy. The good thing is we might be able to reduce the number of terrorists by giving them lung cancer.
