The actress, the Internet, the sex film and Iran

November 10th, 2006 by Quan Tranh

Score another one for the mullets, I mean mullahs of Iran. Reuters is running a story on an actress that is accused of appearing in an immoral film. Apparently antics that the tabloids thrive on exposing will get you killed in Iran.

Pictures of an actress, dressed in the close fitting Islamic headscarf mandatory in Iranian state television productions, have been splashed across the front pages connecting her with the sex scenes. The soap star, in her 20s, denies she appears in the film and media reports she has tried to kill herself since.

Those convicted of such crimes can face a range of punishments ranging from lashes to imprisonment or even death if the woman is married and is thus committing adultery.

Anyone want to marry this woman and get her a US Green Card? Sounds like she deserves one whether or not she is guilty as charged. And someone needs to get the investigators a ham sandwich. The must be hungry by now.
