Student Suspended for Chewing Gum

May 28th, 2006 by Quan Tranh

More waste of taxpayer dollars through funding idiots. A student at Huston Middle School Lower Burrell, PA was suspended for giving another student gum.

The girl, whose name and age were not released, gave another Huston Middle School student Jolt gum. The gum is “a stimulant that has no other redeeming quality,” said Amy Palermo, schools superintendent.

Hang on here a second. Caffine has been shown to boost alertness and cognitive functions. In addition it gives you energy or perceived energy. This makes PE class more enjoyable since and encourages the students to be more active. The silly thing is the school has soda machines on campus. If caffine has no other redeeming quality then they need to remove the soda machines from the property no matter where they are located.

“What if the gum had been given to a student with a heart condition?” Palermo said Thursday.

That’s a load of steaming crap. What if a student with a heart condition put money in a soda machine? Obviously the schools are selectively enforcing what they think is good for the students.

Fortunately I was able to pull up this information
