Warning: Everything is May Cause Cancer

July 14th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) filed a petition on July 13 with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ask the agency to require health warnings be put on containers of all non-diet soft drinks, carbonated and non-carbonated, containing more than 13 grams of refined sugar per 12 ounces.

Whoa! Lets put a warning on every damn thing in the whole world! This has got to be the most stupid request I have ever seen. Let’s waste tax payer money on some useless project such as this.

According to CSPI, teenage boys who drink carbonated or non-carbonated soft drinks consume an average of three 12 ounce cans per day, and girls more than two cans. The data was derived from a new analysis of 1999-2002 governmental data. A typical 12-ounce soda contains 40 grams of sugar. That means boys could consume 480 calories from soda per day and girls 320 calories.

Apparently CSPI has never heard of individual accountability. Let the little bastards drink soda. If they were playing football, baseball, softball, or basketball 500 extra calories per day wouldn’t be a problem. We should enroll everyone in sports. I nominate Sgt. Ermey as Coach.

New Cybersecurity Czar Job

July 13th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

News.com.com.com.com.com is reporting that we now have a Cybersecurity Czar position at DHS. It’s about time that someone decided to put cybersecurity on the priority list. For now cyberterrorism will remain an annoyance, but in 20 years there’s no telling what you can do with a computer, besides sign the Taliban up for bondage SPAM with dominant women.

Speaking of Banned Towels

July 13th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

On July 12, 2001, the Taliban banned the use of the Internet. So much for banning the evils of the net. Today former Tawl-i-ban holdings are liberated and joining the rest of the world. Did they honestly think they could really protect the morals of their, um, citizens by banning the net? May they receive SPAM for V1aGra.

Taliban Banned

July 13th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A prominent U.S.-based Islamic scholar who exhorted his followers after the Sept. 11 attacks to join the Taliban and fight U.S. troops was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison.

This is truly nice to see that Ali al-Timimi is going away for a very long time. It’s nice to see that supporting the Taliban is banned. Unfortunately he won’t be a martyr in prison. It is also unfortunate that he won’t get his 72 virgins in prison. Though it is most unfortunate of all to know that his ass won’t be virgin anything for wrong. I still wonder why they hate us so much.

USC is teh SUX!!!!11111

July 12th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

A l33t h4x0r has accessed files at the University of Spoiled Children in Colly-Fornia.

Officials of the University of Southern California said they will contact everyone who used the school’s online application system in the past eight years to warn them that a hacker may have been able to read their files.

Ok, what is wrong with this picture? Anyone who has registered in the past eight years??!!! Who is the rocket scientist who decided to leave eight years worth of application information in that database? Hopefully this incident will cause the academic world to implement document retention/destruction policies. We shouldn’t be too hopeful since the private sector still assumes that it’s ok to keep any information provided you have the disk space.

Laser Hair Removal Grows In Popularity

July 12th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

MSNBC is reporting that laser hair removal is becoming popular among both sexes. Even Miami Dolphins linebacker Junior Seau had laser treatment on his legs to keep tape from pulling the hair out. This operation can be seen as practical and as cosmetic. There was a down side to the story where Shiri Berg had a bad reaction to Lidocane while driving on her way to have a procedure done.

There is no formal certification, says Geronemus. But patients can look for local doctors on medical Web sites, like those run by the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

From what I’ve seen on Discovery Channel The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is the most elite group of surgeons in the country. Supposedly there can only be 1500 of them at any given time. It’s certainly better to go to the best and pay more rather than end up looking like Michael Jackson.

Bouyeri Confesses

July 12th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

Muhammad Bouyeri has confessed to the brutal murder of Dutch film maker Van Gogh.

The Al-Jazeera “Death To America” Network is quoting him as saying.

“If I were released and would have the chance to do it again, what I did on 2 November, I would do exactly the same thing.”

“I would do the same to my brother or father” if they had insulted the Prophet Muhammad, he said.

The killing is believed to have been an act of retribution for Van Gogh’s controversial film “Submission,” which many felt had insulted Islam and Muslims.

It’s really sweet that he would kill his own family if they insulted Muhammad. If the film is so controversial we should build an IMAX theatre in Iran so all can behold Van Goh’s glorious film.

Bad Boys Bad Boys

July 7th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

A man who rescued a swimmer caught in swirling river currents found himself in trouble soon afterward when he was arrested by authorities who claimed he was interfering.

Another great case of blue uniform-itis. Abed Duamni was rescued by Dave Newman when he was swept by strong currents. Duamni and his family should consider taking some kind of action against the police. In my opinion the police would have wanted Duamni to die rather than accept the humiliation of a citizen out performing them. Their appreciation can be seen by how they thanked Mr. Newman. The first thing Duamni should demand is the resignation of the morons who placed Newman under arrest. The last thing any citizen needs is a group of homocidal cops who want innocent people to drown.

Dude Looks Like a Lady

July 7th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

Jerome Mason, 23, six feet tall and 200 pounds, was charged with indecent exposure after going topless on a city street early in the morning of April 22.

Whatever the size or shape of Mason’s breasts, he shouldn’t have been arrested, argued defense attorney Michael Welsh.

“It’s not illegal for a man to expose his breasts,” Welsh told the court. “It’s also not even technically illegal for a woman to expose her breasts [in public].”

Welsh may be right — a 1990 Cincinnati municipal court ruling established that breasts, male or female, are not “private parts” under Ohio decency law.

What a wonderful waste of time by prosecutors. I have to wonder what kind of “real” crime fighting is going on in Ohio. Police decided to go after a man for the most bizzare reason. Then prosecutors decided to pursue this at the taxpayer expense. They say it gets cold in Ohio during the winter. I sense a bad case of brain freeze.

Mother Indicted in Toddler Deaths

July 5th, 2005 by Quan Tranh

(AP) The mother of two toddlers who drowned after wandering away from their east Georgia home in April has been indicted on child cruelty charges. District Attorney Dennis Sanders says Lottie Kain was arrested today in Warren County and taken to jail in neighboring McDuffie County. Three-year-old Jonah Payne and his two-year-old sister, Nicole, wandered away from their Warrenton home on April 23rd and fell into the one-and-a-half-acre sewage pond. Their bodies were found two days later.

DA Sanders and the grand jury have demonstrated their ignorance of children. According to the Fox 5 News at 10:00 it was reported that the children were outside and were brought back inside by the mother. The apparently opened the door again and escaped. In a case like this your only recourse is to put leashes on the childern and attach them to a dog run. Since Sanders is a DA I am sure he has had a sheltered life. Following the stereotype I would assume he never got into trouble as a toddler. Personally I think it’s an accident and it is a waste of time and taxpayer money. When children want to get into things there is nothing you can do to stop them. Common sense for most of us, but since Sanders is an elected official he must be lacking that trait.
