Newsweek magazine said in its May 9 edition investigators probing abuses at the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay found that interrogators “had placed Qurans on toilets, and in at least one case flushed a holy book down the toilet”. Muslims consider the Quran the literal word of God and treat each book with deep reverence.
“If the Americans have done this, then they should admit it and punish those who did it and apologise to Muslims,” Chief Justice Fazl Hadi Shinwari told Reuters.
Oops it looks like we’ve offended some people again. One thing that Shinwari doesn’t realize is that American’s are protected by the 1st Amendment. It is perfectly legal in this country to burn flags, defile holy symbols, or speak badly of the government.
As for defiling religious icons as an interrogation tactic, I’m all for it. When people are angry they tend to make mistakes and say more. It’s the same concept as saying something bad about somebody’s mother to get a rise out of them.
Either way I’m going to write my congressmen and tell them to draft a resolution to reaffirm our soldier’s rights to freedom of religious expression.

The Whizzinator is making news and creating quite a stir on capital hill.
The Whizzinator is a fake penis kit that is sold with dehydrated urine and used to bypass drug testing. Not a bad idea if I do say so myself. There must be a market for something like this in environments where drug testing is a way of life. Fortunately my employer realized that drug testing is a waste of money for office workers. A sobriety policy is far more effective in an office environment. Though if any of my employees can perform their duties drunk or stoned as well as they can sober, does any of this really matter?
“These companies seek through deception to make a buck by violating our trust and compromising our security,” said Rep. Ed Whitfield, a Kentucky Republican
Rep. Whitfield is obviously not a supporter of Capitalism. The company that makes the Whizzinator is trying to make money. Any attempt to stop them through the legislative process is a slap in the face of American capitalism. Instead of stopping them, some other entrepreneur should invent a drug test that doesn’t use urine and that is moderately affordable. Then the risk is entirely on the employer to use a cheap urine test or pay extra for something that is more reliable. Honestly, if Rep. Whitfield finds the idea so horrible he should start his own company to run Whizzinator out of business. There are many industries where a “cold war” between product makers drives profits for both companies. That competition is the true spirit of America.

It’s been a little over a week since Jennifer Wilbanks was found safely in New Mexico. Formetco, a local advertising company was very helpful in getting the word out about her disappearance. They also let all of us know that she was no longer missing.
